Computers are very practical, helpful, may ease daily work, but also are fantastic source of entertainment.
Event shopping may be much faster thanks computers. How is it posssible? In huge supermarkets every product has its own barecode which is also in big computer data-base. In checkout a shop assistant has to only write a code or scann it. After it on the screen of cash register he can see both name of a product and it’s price. But barecodes are becoming more common nowadays. At present barecodes are also use in modern libraries, banks, in public transport. Even computer applications have own barecodes. This is also the best way of protecting it against illegal copying. What’s more interesting, at present every person has it’s own, personal „barecodes” – PESEL and NIP number or a bank account.


It’s high time we went shopping —

Shopping is very often favourite activities among woman. No matter is she young girl or middle-aged women, shopping, buying new things, clothes and cosmetics make her really happy.

At present shopping is even much more pleasant than before. Shopaholic doesn't have to look for shops. Istead of it may go to big shopping centre where can find all popular and expensive shops or boutiques.

Shopping is becoming much easier thanks cash registers. A smart device may fast scan barecode on the label and print price of a product on a receipt. It's very comfortable especially in big shops, where a lot of different products may be found and each of them has different barecode. Nowadays shop assistant doesn't have to know all barecodes by heart. He or she has to only scann it.

Cash registers are irreplaceable in shops, but not only. Currently own cash register has to have every taxi driver, lawyer and even doctor. Some of them claim that's not necesarry, but on the other hand it's also very practical proof of each transaction.

Nowadays very popular are bocoming also self checkouts. Everyone can not only do shopping, but also pay without any help.

Is it really necessary? Some people claim, that not always, but receipt is also a great proof of a transaction and may be presented, when a bought product is out of order or services don't satisfy consumer's expectations.

Some time ago people usually did the shopping in small shops. To count how much  client shound pay, shopkeeper used an abacus. He also had time to advice its clients what they should buy.

Usually optical scanners are used at the cash register. But clients may also check the price during doing the shopping. Little scanners are hanged on shelves in different part of a market. Client may also check the barecode of a product with barecodes on appropriate price tags.

At a time shops were much smaller than nowadays and were located only in cities. Shopkeeper used an abacus and advised buyers which one product they should choose. At present shopping is much more anonymous and clients always have a large variety of different goods, especially in supermarkets.
Of course in a big shopping centres abacus is unacceptable. Each product has its own, unique barcode with represention of data about it. Barecodes are usually rectangular, have white and black lines of different width. Data written on  them are readable by special optical scanners.

Very often in big supermarkets clients may also check how much something cost. Special scanner are hanged in many places. One only has to move barecode of a product to reader and on its display will appear name of a product and appropriate price. It’s also good idea to check price and barecode on label with  its price tag. Sometimes they differ from each other.
